Amorino; An Ice Cream Rose for you my Love.

Summer may be lacking in England this year and the possibility of having ice cream in this weather is probably not on the top list of priorities when wandering the streets of London, but if you fancy a very cheeky indulgence then step into the world of ice cream galore with Amorino; taste buds will be rewarded.

Amorino presents freshly made authentic Italian ice cream in a vast selection of flavours, from a variety of chocolates, to your sorbet of banana and mango to the lavish flavours of amaretto and tiramisu and so many more; really, there are so many flavours presented in all its creaminess beauty and tasting just so good. And as an extra treat Amorino’s hospitable and skilled chefs create the perfect rose sculpted ice cream for you to lick your way around. Amorino knows that with ice cream there is always time to illustrate its splendour with this delightful and unique signature. Founded by two friends from childhood and deciding to share their love with the world Amorino has many shops around the world, having 3 shops in England; 2 in London and 1 in Oxfordshire. As well as ice cream Amorino also offer a wide range of other luxuries such as hot drinks, waffles, sweets and other delights. Fall in love with ice cream all over again, and delight in a childhood treat for the now adult you.

I thought having coffee and banana together would be considered playing it safe, but each flavour was so rich that I thought I was having a wild treat. No artificial flavouring in this ice cream, it was pure banana, the actual fruit. The texture and taste was of fresh banana, and the coffee was intense; so very rich and deep in coffee and with an extra treat of coffee chocolates that recreate the look of coffee beans mixed in the ice cream. Everything was of such an amazing quality, no cheap ice creams here, just pure, tasty and prolific flavours to soak your taste buds in.

The Breakfast Club

Dear The Breakfast Club, we accept the fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day; eat breakfast like kings, lunch like princes and dine like paupers. But we think that you are utterly brilliant to make breakfast apart of every meal of every day. You see us the way we see us...The grandeurs of humanity...in the most real definition. We are all part of the royal carriage...one of us may be a teacher, a loyal friend, a business person, a princess and a student of life. But what we’ve found out is that we are all Kings. And you, The Breakfast Club, allow us to dine that way.
Sincerely yours,
The Public.

I love all things quirky and unique, and of course a place that knows how to cook a good breakfast. After searching online for such a place that would cater to my hungry needs I finally stumbled upon The Breakfast Club’s website and thought, this is most likely my kind of place. I read loads of reviews, mixed and positive, and finally had a day I could visit them from lunch. I was a bit apprehensive about having something I could probably make at home just a well, and thought the novelty of it may end up being a disappointment. But I fell in love with the place as soon as I stepped through its doors. The Breakfast Club’s quaint decor, its American style diner influence, but with the quirky English feel to it, was dazzling. You may feel overwhelmed, everything seems to be close (or intimate) but this is not a worry this just adds to the quaint cosy feel, where everybody is just there to enjoy their breakfast. And I fell madly in love with the most amazing breakfast.

After ordering a pitcher of Pimms (the sun finally showing itself in London) for ourselves, my friend and I found it ever hard to pick breakfast among the list of so many interesting meals. I was spoilt for choice; the Fish Finger Sandwich, a selection of meaty sandwiches, The Full Monty, Pancakes. I wanted everything. However we did finally order, with my friend having The All American Pancakes containing proper American style pancakes, eggs (cooked to your preference of poached, scrambled or fried), bacon and sausages with as much maple syrup as you want. I went for Eggs Benedict, ham on a toasted English muffin with a most creamy, delicious hollandaise sauce upon the best poached egg that oozed with the brightest orange yolk, I almost devoured the plate the food was that good. And the portions are not small. With breakfast being the most important meal of the day, The Breakfast Club are not shy in making sure their meals ready you for the day, whether it be morning, brunch, lunch or dinner.

I shall definitely be returning to try out something else. The staffs are friendly, welcoming and attentive, adding to the comfy, chilled vibe of the diner. For a reasonable priced fulfilling meal (an average of £15 overall spent) The Breakfast Club is definitely the place you must try if you’re around London’s Liverpool Street, Spitalfields area, sitting upon Artillery Lane off of Bishopgate Street. And if you happen to be spending the evening there, make sure to ask to see the Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town, for The Breakfast Club have many other quirky surprises for you to splendour in.

The Breakfast Club is also in the area of Soho, Angel, Hoxton and Eggquaters.

B@1 in Soho

Chapter Two of the voyage discovery of BeAtOne cocktail

So, round two of exploring the unique and lively Be at One bars around London, bringing you the best and greatest atmosphere, and this time we headed to London’s central; Soho. Sitting upon Great Windmill Street just around the corner from Piccadilly Circus B@1 has again provided me with an enjoyable night during its Happy Hour.

Again, you really won’t find a friendly place; it’s like I’m visiting a good friend, made to feel welcome and encouraged to enjoy myself. The music pumping, the atmosphere exciting. Walking into the bar the staff greet you like an old friend, and hand to the ‘Little Blue Book of Cocktails’, which I am endeavouring to work my way through.
the classic Zombie

My friend and I tried three cocktails during Be At One Soho’s Happy Hour, two of the same cocktails for the price of one on Monday and Tuesday between 4:30 till 8pm, Wednesday to Saturday 4:30 till 7pm and All Night on Sunday.  I can therefore urge you to try the Brazilian Monk, the nutty, creamy and coffee Ice Cream cocktail, the fruity rum classic Zombie cocktail and last a wonderful creamy Screaming Orgasm thanks to the barmaid who recommended it to us and the barman who made it all happen.

I just love Be At One, and if you are ever in London I would strongly suggest visiting for a brilliant evening. Chatting to the barmaid we decided it would take about 3-4 months to drink all the cocktails in the ‘Little Blue Book’, which I at least attempt even if it will take my all summer or all year. It will be the most enjoyable quest I have ever taken.

Wildwood Restaurant, Covent Garden.

A superb European restaurant at a most reasonable price for a luxurious meal.

This elegant European beauty, sitting upon Bow Street, was a delightful treat after meandering the streets of Covent Garden for it since my friend recommended we try this place she remembered a year ago. Not only did the warmth of Wildwood Restaurant greet me as we entered from the cold, rainy weather, but also the pleasant, beautiful décor and friendly hospitality of its waitresses.

After being seated at a comfortable table, candlelit and a bottle of olive oil setting the scene of a rustic and homely European meal at an extravagant grandma, we selected a glass of Merlot to warm ourselves up. The place had a brilliant buzz with everyone enjoying themselves. Fighting between the Seaford Risotto and the Smoked Haddock Risotto I decided the latter Risotto, that blended smoked haddock, cheddar cheese, peas, a poached egg and spinach which sounded creamy and rich; it most certainly was. The texture was cooked to utter excellence, velvety and flavoursome with the smoky haddock. And to top it all off the definition of perfection resided in the poached egg with a yoke that oozed as soon as I drove my fork into it, adding to the smoothness of the dish.

After being checked upon by the waitresses who made sure we were comfortable and enjoying our meal we moved onto dessert and the White Chocolate Cheesecake jumped out to me and seeing as I am a huge chocolate lover of course I knew this dessert was for me, and I have never experience anything like this delightful dessert. I can still taste the smoothness of the white chocolate upon the crunch of the dark chocolate biscuit base. So simple, but packed with so much guilty goodness.

Wildwood will definitely see me again after the wonderful time I spent there; especially with a 20% off your next meal when you dine at Wildwood at lunch. With my meal (including the coffee we ordered to end) came to £24, which I thought a brilliant price for a most splendid meal. With loads of restaurants around London, Essex, as well as one in Kent and Leicester I hope there is one close to you for a lovely evening out.

B@1; the gift of east London.

Spitalfields has a little treasure of a gift rocking the streets of London’s East-End. Lively and uplifting, Be@1 is one of many cocktail bars animating London with its electric/rock classic tunes and friendly bartenders
who know there drinks and love creating as much fun as possible. I assure you you won’t find a more welcoming and unique bar in London.

A friend of mine told me I would love B@1 after having experienced it one Sunday and told me that I had to try their ice cream cocktails; she knows me too well. I’ve never experienced anything like it, it was like an exclusive party that everyone was invited to for a good fun time; I felt so at home there. We walked into the quaint bar situated on Brushfield Street off of Bishopgate Road, round the corner from Liverpool Street Station, where we received a most entertaining welcome for the bartenders, who you could just tell loved being there. Having browsed the wide selection of cocktails, including all the classics but also the huge variety of distinctive cocktails from those ice cream cocktails to B@1’s own, I first ordered the Kahlua Banana, with the smooth coffee flavour of Kahlua, fresh banana and ice cream. And of course, B@1 has a Happy Hour with 2 of the same cocktail for the price of 1 from 5pm to 7pm Monday to Saturday and 6pm to midnight on Sunday;  what a happy 2hours I had.

The atmosphere was amazing, the place buzzing and meeting the bartenders who not only love to chat, but also love to dance and sing along to the raging music, for themselves and for the entertainment of the crowd. Chatting and getting to know one of the bartenders called Greg, who charmingly offered us a free shot if we liked their page on Facebook (which my friends and I of course accepted!) made the whole experience at B@1 incredible. As recommended by both my friend and the bartenders come along to B@1 on Sunday for even more energy, as the bar parties harder and wilder. If their weekdays are a taster for their Sunday I am sure getting myself down there for B@1 is the place you do not want to miss out on, whether it’s after the day at the office or just an outing with friends.
